I finished my studies (Business Admin and Fashion Design from University Of Westminster 1996, Harrow, London) and started a small sole proprietor company with £500 investment.

When I thought a concept of RAWLAND many people told me off because there were many other brands already in the market but I could see a gap in the market for clothing specially designed for an average motorcyclist in this country. Most of the other brands are European companies which sell clothing which is more for an athletic and for a slim built motorcyclist. I could also see that the clothing industry is over priced and because most of the companies are based in Europe there was hardly any sale or after sale service directly from the brand.

Have you ever thought why fast food chains are not very popular in Italy, Spain and other Mediterranean countries? And why fast food meals are much bigger in USA? In my humble opinion because people in those countries only demand and accept value for money and great service.

I truly believe that Motorcycle clothing also require a good advice and help from the very same people who designed the actual garment and not just an agent or a dealer.

In 1997 Asim Khan commenced trading as a sole proprietor. The business was started with the small investment of £500. Shortly afterwards a small set up of retail shop commenced. By 2001 the retail shops generated sufficient income to finance a factory set up. Which was situated in Bethnal Green, East London.

The business continued to expand as a whole sale and retail of motorcycle clothing. The leather was cut in the residential house of Asim and sent out to workers and returned to the factory in Bethnal Green to be finished and sale.
